Ben To Star In History’s ‘Sons of Liberty’

History is moving forward with its ambitious Revolutionary War miniseries and has firmed up a star-filled cast. The cable network has ordered the six-hour ‘Sons of Liberty’, which follows “a defiant and radical group of young men as they band together in secrecy to change the course of history and make America a nation.”

Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia) stars as Sam Adams, a natural born leader with charisma and a penchant for mischief; Ryan Eggold is set as Joseph Warren, a doctor and man of conscience and integrity; Michael Raymond James is Paul Revere, a veteran who wholeheartedly joins forces with Adams; Rafe Spall will portray John Hancock, the wealthiest man in Boston at the time; and Henry Thomas is John Adams, a lawyer and the conservative, smart cousin of Sam Adams. Dean Norris rounds out the cast as the brilliant yet mischievous diplomat Benjamin Franklin.

‘Sons of Liberty’ is currently in pre-production and is set to premiere in 2015.

Ben Joins ABC Drama Pilot ‘Exposed’

Ben Barnes (‘The Chronicles Of Narnia’ franchise) has been tapped as a male lead opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead in ABC’s drama pilot ‘Exposed’, from writer Charles Randolph, Peter Traugott’s TBD Entertainment, Sweden-based Yellow Bird Entertainment and Universal TV.

Based on the best-selling Swedish novels by Liza Marklund, ‘Exposed’ centers on Anna (Winstead), an investigative journalist who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth, including making questionable alliances. Barnes, repped by WME and Luber Roklin, will play Stoya, a mysterious man who develops an intimate relationship with Anna (Winstead). He claims to be a pilot, but is in fact an NSA whistleblower who is being hunted by the U.S. government because he knows too much.

New Release Date For ‘Seventh Son’

With Legendary joining Universal as a new partner in July, the two have already moved around release dates for upcoming projects, including pushing ‘Seventh Son’ from 2014 to 2015.

‘Seventh Son,’ starring Jeff Bridges, was set to open on January 17, 2014 but will now open on February 6, 2015. The move is interesting given that Universal is already opening ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ on Valentine’s Day 2015, but given that ‘Seventh Son’ plays to boys, the move comes off as good counter-programming.

This marks the second time Legendary has moved ‘Seventh Son,’ which was supposed to open this October, before Legendary pushed it back 3 months to January.
