‘By The Gun’ Red Carpet Interview

Emertainment Monthly spoke with Ben on the red carpet at the ‘By The Gun’ premiere in Boston on December 1st. Check out the interview below:

Ben, you’re best know for playing Prince Caspian in the Chronicles of Narnia film series, as well as playing Dorian Gray in the film Dorian Gray. Both characters are fantastical and hold a level of prestige within their respective worlds. What was it like to play a realistic character, set in the real modern world, coming from nothing in By the Gun?

Ben Barnes: I was definitely, definitely looking for a role more like this, with more sort of grounded, gritty characters. I love the urban type of stories, and this script sort of popped up one day and it was just one of those ones that I read cover to cover. Once I finished, I instantly thought “well, I have to play this guy”.

‘By The Gun’ Interview + New Stills

Ben recently spoke with the Improper Bostonian about his latest film, ‘By The Gun’. Check out the interview below! New stills have also been added to the gallery.

This role was a big departure from previous parts, like, say, Prince Caspian. What drew you to the role?

You almost answered the question in the question. A lot of my thought process behind this particular role was that it was so different from everything I’ve done. It’s been six years since I filmed the last Narnia film that I ended up involved with, and I feel I’ve done a lot of growing up in that time, as men tend to do—you know, we’re trying to catch up with the women in terms of growing up. And I think part of the joy of acting, for me, is being able to take on different types of characters and trying to see the world through their eyes, immersing yourself in their world.

New Release Date For ‘Seventh Son’

With Legendary joining Universal as a new partner in July, the two have already moved around release dates for upcoming projects, including pushing ‘Seventh Son’ from 2014 to 2015.

‘Seventh Son,’ starring Jeff Bridges, was set to open on January 17, 2014 but will now open on February 6, 2015. The move is interesting given that Universal is already opening ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ on Valentine’s Day 2015, but given that ‘Seventh Son’ plays to boys, the move comes off as good counter-programming.

This marks the second time Legendary has moved ‘Seventh Son,’ which was supposed to open this October, before Legendary pushed it back 3 months to January.
