@Maiamai: Where did you find out about the date for the Wedding.

wonderful…we already have international dates! :D BTW, has anybody read the Spook’s series? I have a question about the creatures we’ve seen in the concept arts…I know they are not in book 1, so I wonder from which book they come from.

@Fl – I was wondering the same thing. It could be boggart.

I’m about to finish book 4 and I can’t wait to see these on the big screen. I think Ben is perfect for the part.

FL said:

@Kim: you’ve read up to book 4? Anything remotely like the creatures? (i.e. the giant monster coming out of the ground and the skeletal horserider). I’m about to start book 2 btw.

Kim said:

@FL – yep and I’m hoping to start 5 later tonight. The giant monster coming from the ground could be a boggart. As for the skeletal rider, there isn’t anything like that so far in the books unless I missed something. Book 2 is really good but so far 3 and 4 are my favorites.

ahh i see…thanks. I guess they probably changed some stuff, like what the director said in Comic-con, cos while the books are good, they are not remotely as interesting as Harry Potter. So the movie must improvise a bit to make it appealing i guess.

Really? the books are not that interesting as HP? Then why did they choose to make a film out of it? Actually, Im in the mid part of Book 1. and Im a bit depressed about these feedbacks. Im a big fan of horror movies. In fact i made a thesis about whitchcraft when i was in college. If I am to compare it with the stuffs i read and watch, I find the book quite dragging. But I do hope they will be able to cure the problem. oh ben, please make it good for us.

i didn’t mean to say the book is bad…the story is good in its own right, but i don’t think it’ll be nearly as phenomenal as HP. Perhaps because HP has so many interesting characters and combines wizardry and boarding school and everything which makes it interesting and makes you want to keep turning the pages, while the Wardstone Chronicles is more like a classic witch-hunter story. Also HP has plenty of humor while the Wardstone Chronicles is much more serious. In other words, I think it doesn’t have as much blockbuster potential as HP. However, I do think the movie will be quite different from the books. I believe the director will improvise and add some elements so that the screen adaptation will be much more interesting. I’ve seen this happened with the Narnia movies…I frankly find the screen adaptations much more interesting than the book. But this is just IMHO. (btw, I’m a fan of fantasy and horror stories too. I do enjoy the Wardstone Chronicles…but I don’t find myself finishing the book in one go like i did with HP books).

by the way, does the series have strong followers? We’ve seen millions of fansites/boards for HP but I am yet to find one for the Spooks series. Has anybody seen one?

I went to the official cinemawebsite in this country and looked at the schedule for upcoming movies and lo and behold! There it was!

Just hope they stick to it though and not keep shifing the dates and eventually take it off the schedule as they did with Killing Bono. I´m still really angry about that. That movie was scheduled for theatrical release here up until about a month before the UK premiere! And now we only get it on DVD.

I only found this official page for Spooks Books
http://www.spooksbooks.com/index.asp

and this fan page
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=43461171864

but seems there is no huge groups of fans. Anyway I read the first book and I like it. Trying to get the rest of the series now.
It is a dark fantasy, but it is interesting to read it.

@Maiamai
lucky for you, you already know the release date of The Wedding ;)

LOL I hope that nobody gets angry for what I am going to say and forgive me, but when I have entered here (and before reading rachel’s message) when I have seen the images in small, above about the page I thought that Katherine Heigl was TE. And I thought: “They already caught them ” xDD. Certainly Ben seems that he comes from the gym xD.

Thanks for the pictures, rachel :)

sorry i misunderstood you. well at least you made me feel a little pk with your explanation. ibut m keeping my fingers crossed that this will turn out to be a good movie coz it really pains me to read bad reviews about ben and his movies. i know he’s a good actor and very professional. he doesn’t deserve over-the-edge bad reviews.

@ Shunrei

abd ben looks very fresh and young.
