I have seen the movie. It came out in September in the United Kingdom. I really enjoyed it. It got mixed reviews. Some people expect it to follow Oscar Wilde’s novel faithfully but it is impossible. It is very difficult to adapt a movie from a book. They added a character, Lord Henry Wotton’s daughter. She serves a purpose because it is an indication that years have gone by. Dorian Gray was away from London for 25 years or so. Some critics say Ben gave a ‘wooden’ of ‘flat’ performance. I disagree with them. He pulled off the good and bad side of Dorian Gray and he captured the character’s arrogance perfectly. I didn’t see any ‘wooden’ acting. Ben has the face for the role and the depth. His portrayal was very convincing. The rest of the cast were great as well. Colin firth was perfect as the corruptor. I think Ben is one to watch. It is my opinion. You will the judge of that when you see the movie. People will have different reations to the movie and acting.
