Fedra. I thought Fatal attraction too when I saw the trailer. It does look good though, I haven’ seen anything with Eliza Dushku(Spelling?) but from the trailer she looks to be good in this.

Thanks for the update.

that trailer was a little hard to follow. had to view it 3x just to figure out what the plot is about.

yeah it is a bit like Fatal Attraction. i also cant shake the feeling that theres more to it than it seems, like maybe the daughter isnt really in the coma but Josh is.

also about the title switch, i agree Valediction may not feel to be the right name for this given the plot, but neither is Locked In i think. maybe “Off the Road” would be better, given how many times this phrase was used in the trailer :-P

lastly, Ben better act the top notch advertising hot shot his character is supposed to be because just looking at him, he looks no different from when he’s a mess after the accident and before when his life was the envy of all.

PS: was it just me or was Ben’s actually slipping on his American intonation? there were several instances in the trailer where i thought Ben was speaking in his own English accent.

If it weren’t for Ben, I wouldn’t be interested in this film. It will be refreshing to see him in a contemporary role. His acting seems solid but his American accent needs a little work. Love this guy.

And, yeah, “Locked In” is a terrible title. So was “Valediction”. The film might be a box office loser just for that reason. (See “The Human Stain”)

Well all I have to say is I can’t wait to see this one. To me the trailer looks good and I understand the plot. I too thought of fatal attratction but a interesting and better version of it. Can’t wait. Need to know the date it is comming out. At lease this one is comming out in America .

I, for one, don’t care about the title…the movie does look interesting though..I’d definitely go watch it!! Did not notice about the accent…from this trailer I’d say Ben’s acting is getting much better!! I wish we had a release date. Thanks so much Stephanie!!

@Scarlett: don’t be so negative girl!! Already saying it’s going to be a box office loser for the movie title alone :( If it’s a good movie, the title won’t even matter. The title IS better than The Human Stain…LOL!!

Maybe the title is not very flashy but i did some research and i found out that
Locked In is a syndrome where the patient is aware and awake but an not move or communicate due to a paralysis of all the body muscles except the eyes and at some situations not even the eyes.

Locked In is also something that they describe and “being buried alive” feeling.

So i guess that is why they chose that title for the movie. Because of the Locked In syndrome the daughter is in….
it makes sense to me….

Second i would like to say that i am content that this movie/production company is advertising the movie so soon. It is a good thing for the promotion of the movie so that it may give to the audience time to become familiar with it BEFORE it hits the screens, unlike the company that relesed Dorian Gray that ( in my opinion ) did lousy job in the DG movie, since i remember well that the movie was coming out on September 11 and it was AUGUST and i still hadn’t seen the official or even a teaser movie trailer for God’s sake!

No wonder it had no big impact or appeal to the audiences around the world….the movie relesed and we didn’t even seen a trailer not until less then a month before the movie came out.. :/

I hope the do a better job promoting Locked In. :)

@ Steelsheen – Just watched the trailer and your absolutely right about the (over)use of ‘off the road’! But it looks a fantastic movie and I agree that there is probably some twist in the plot. Eliza was ‘Faith’ in Buffy and played Arny Schwartz’s daughter in True Lies (among other things). I’ve always thought she was quite good so it will be good to see her back in action.

And, yes, Ben seems to get better every time doesnt he? There was a moment in the trailer when his voice broke slightly with emotion – pulls at the heart strings!

Sonia, I said that the movie MIGHT be a box office loser because of the title, not that it would be for sure. A film’s success doesn’t depend, of course, simply on the title, but that is a big part of the promotional package. Some of the criticisms about “The Human Stain”, among other things, was that the title was unappealing. It bombed at the box office. That’s just one example.

The title “Locked In” doesn’t make sense for this film, if you go by the trailer. As other people have already said, it looks more like “Fatal Attraction” than a thriller about a man’s daughter trying to communicate with him while being in a locked-in state. Perhaps the studio thought it would garner more interest to play up the sexual affair rather than the medical thriller, I don’t know. However, the film is still in post-production, so they could re-cut the trailer to jibe more with the actual plot.

If I seem a bit negative it’s only because I want Ben’s films to do well. Right now, I’m a little concerned about how this one is being handled. And the early 2010 release date isn’t a good sign either. As you may know, studios dump less-anticipated movies in the first quarter of the year. Sometimes there’s a hit (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, “Mall Cop”), but most these movies are dogs.

On the upside, as Fedra said it’s great that this studio is ramping up the promotional materials well ahead of the release date, unlike the late promotion for “Dorian Gray”.

And whether the movie is well-received or not, I will definitely be there to see what Ben is capable of!

so, they went with the “Locked In” title.. hmmm not the best title but from what I saw from the trailer, I think it looks great :) Ben seems very expressive and who cares if his accent kinda goes off in a few spots.. its not going to be perfect.. accents are hard to do and Ben is doing very well for only getting started in his career basically.. Go Ben and Kudos to you for trying your best at your job. You do it very well and you are DEFINITELY more than a pretty face :)

PS: The fact that hes a father is adorable! cant wait to see this :D

Ben’s acting looks impressive in this trailer. Good for him!!Shows that he’s going to be around for a long while in the movie business. As someone mentioned before, he’s MORE than just a pretty face.

I definitely agree he’s more than just a pretty face since he does have talent that many actors don’t have, no matter how famous they are.

The trailer looks great and can’t wait to see the movie. After reading the description of what “Locked In” means in context with the plot line, the title change makes sense. Because from the trailer, you really aren’t sure what’s what’s going on, which makes it alot more interesting than most films that are released these days. Honestly, I can’t imagine why this film would bomb. But I do hope that it gets nationwide exposure rather than limited releases like most of his films have done, since it would be a shame to miss out on being able to see it.

Also, I didn’t notice his native British accent slipping in at all since he does an American accent perfectly. He’s also adorable cast as a daddy and it’s great to see him in another contemporary role (other than Bigga Than Ben).

I live in Indonesia, fell for him after his only movie played in my country, Prince Caspian. Wrote many personal blogs about him for my pleasure. But after seeing the Locked in Trailer I realized one thing. He’s no teenager anymore. Though he has the look of 16 years old boy, but his actual number is mature enough to play mature roles..

I can’t say anything yet about Locked In. Not much to see in the trailer. But I love the last part, when he moved his eyes in misery and panic when the guy said “Josh, if you don’t calm down, you’ll never see your daughter again, you understand?”.. I knew he has talent, not just pretty face and he has a strong acting background to back up his career.. I wish to see more of his movie in my country and to see him receiving his awards..

As some of you wrote Ben is much more than just a pretty face! As I´ve seen him first time as Caspian, I told my friends, remember that name well, this guy will be hot article as will getting older, Didn´t know that time he is already older :). And it looks I was right :), On top of that he is absolutely great personality with brain and sense of humor… Ben go for it!!

Heather, I totally agree that I cannot imagine him clean shaven any more! At first i wasnt sure but I love it now! He is the only guy (apart from George Clooney) to look good with one I think!

Even though i knew he was 27 (at the time of making) he looks about 16 in Caspian. So pleased he’s not!

And though he’s more than a pretty face… you have to admit that the face is DAMN pretty!

Hola a todas!!

Some said that it might not be Josh’s daughter who’s in the coma, but Josh himself. Agree with that … it kinda seems like it. But then again, it might not. Don’t know.

I like the trailer. A lot. I’m not such a movie-freak, so I usually watch the movies I find because of some actors and I haven’t seen a movie like this in some time, so it’s a nice chance.

[Still, those movies tend to be all alike … well … we’ll see]

And I just have to mention Ben’s eyes. They’re not normal. Seriously. It’s amazing. They’re so black and deep, he could be the devil himself Oô

And I wouldn’t mind seeing him shaved again … I don’t mind a beard, as long as it doesn’t stay forever and I can enjoy the “clean” look as well from time to time XD
