HBO has set a premiere date for their highly-anticipated sci-fi western drama ‘Westworld’. The series will debut Sunday, October 2nd at 9 PM (ET).
The one-hour drama series is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.

cheryl said:I’m still trying to temper my expectations, though. With a big cast like that, and the plot description, I don’t think he’ll have much screen time.
But I’d be happy to be proven wrong. :)

Carol said:Of course I don’t expect a big screen appearance but a little appearance may be good as well. Because less is sometimes more ;)

cheryl said:Sure Carol, I don’t expect him to be the most important character on the show, but it’d be nice if he wasn’t the least important. :D
(My bday is in Oct. too, Cindy.)
Maybe we need a discussion forum in here.

Must admit , I share the concern some have about the size of his role. The trailer was super cool, but I later found out I mixed him up with another actor . Not so cool :(((( Fingers crossed for Ben!

Like Cheryl and Carol, I wonder if Ben will have a big role in Westworld. But we’ll see…. :)

Dianna said:Ya, I agree with all the above. A bit in advance i know but I wonder though if there is going to be a second season and if Ben will be in it.
If a second season I don’t think they’ve started filming already.August 1st, 2016
cheryl said:Dianna: I wonder about that, too. I suppose they can’t make that decision until after it airs and they see how the ratings are.
He doesn’t have anything else on his IMDB page and that always makes me nervous. :) I really worry about this far too much.

Carol said:I’m afraid that his role will be an uncredited cameo. The filmmakers aren’t paying much attention to him (like for example in Dorian Gray or in the Narnia series), because of that big cast and such. But it doesn’t bother me at all. I’ll watch it anyway :D
But I agree, it’s a shame. Ben has lots of talent to be in lead role :)August 1st, 2016
Stephanie said:I haven’t been able to find much information about Ben’s part in Westworld .. but I did come across this one new article where he was mentioned:
However, the guest of Westworld also have an important part to play. Nolan explained that Westworld is also a bit of a game, not just an experience. Michael Crichton hadn’t quite anticipated how major video games would become when he wrote and directed the 1973 film, but Nolan says, “Our narrative had to account for that more sophisticated understanding we have of gaming. We call them guests but there’s a player aspect.”
Jimmy Simpson (seen above) and Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) play two guests of the park, but Westworld will not feature a weekly rotation of new guests. “We didn’t do the Fantasy Island version of the show,” Nolan siad. “That’s the broadcast version of this. For us, the beauty of what’s happening on HBO and cable is that that long haul storytelling. So there will be some guests. Jimmy Simpson and Ben Barnes’ characters have a really cool journey through our narrative. You’ll meet a handful of other guests along the way. Ed [Harris‘] character (seen below) features as the expert level player coming to this park. He says he’s been coming to this park for 30 years. He knows everything about it.”

Marie said:Thanks Stephanie for this interesting paragraph. I didn’t know about the player aspect of the guests. :) So Ben’s character won’t die after episode 1, which is a good news (his character didn’t last very long in the original movie). ;)
