LaRose said:They definitely changed the story around. It seems like they are sort of putting all the books into one film. I wonder if it ends the way the last book ends? We’ll have to see. It looks fantastic though.

Actually, yesterday a friend and I went seeing the movie in France.
Athough i’m not a big fan of the genre (monsters and stuff) I found the movie entertaining.
It wasn’t all about witches and killing witches but also got some human elements and some great character developement for Ben.
Well about Ben’s acting I can honnestly say he was flawless. Spot on and nailed it lol Not once did I get the feeling he under – or over acted a scene.
My friend who isn’t a bb fan said he’s a good actor and was pleasantly surprised by the movie itself.
The only negative thing was that the movie was dubbed in french but I couldn’t wait another 2 months for it to come out in my country. Afterall the cinema where they showed the movie was less than 40 min driving.December 18th, 2014

I never read the books so I cannot answer to your question. The only advice i can give to people in general is to always first watch a movie and later read the book(s). I’ve been reading lots of comments eg. on Dorian Gray and those who did read the book were negative and those who hadn’t really liked the movie and thought Ben did a solid job.
A book is a different medium. It gives you the oppertunity to use your imagination and some chapters in a book don’t lean themselves to show on screen or kill the pace of the movie . So after reading a book and then expecting the same in the movie one will almost always be dissapointed.
I read the books Alive, Not without my daughter, Perfume, oh and The Bridges of Maddison county (totally wrong casting BTW… you see? ) to name a few, this, before I saw the movie and every time I was dissapointed in the movie.
One exeption that comes to my mind was The English Patient.December 18th, 2014
