Good news everyone!

Entertainment Weekly reports that Ben has been cast as Hamlet in ‘Ophelia’.

EW has learned that Ben Barnes has been cast as Hamlet in Ophelia, an independently financed retelling of the story of the tormented young Dane from the perspective of his long-suffering girlfriend.

Producers Daniel Bobker and Ehren Kruger tapped first-time director Dawn Shadforth to provide a dynamic, contemporary take on the classic characters, somewhat in the vein of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, minus the iambic pentameter dialogue.

The production is aiming for an early-summer start date.

As for “New Moon’, there was a press release from his agent in LA that he has not been approached to play Aro. –

From OK Magazine – “Although Ben has enjoyed much of the speculation, we haven’t had any calls. There’s no truth to it.”

Sad, I know. I would’ve loved to see him in that role.

Though i was happy to see a new picture of Ben, i must admit that this one has me worried a bit.

He looks gorgeous as ever but ,Gosh, he looks so skiny.

He seems to look thinner and thinner from picture to picture, and to be honest that get’s me worried.

Hope he takes care of himself.

Glad to hear that VoDT is up and running. Can’t wait to see what they do with that installment.

As far as Aro, in reading the book, I can picture him in that particular role although I’m sure he’d be great in something similar.

I’m sure he’ll make Hamlet alot more interesting for high school kids and adults. I remember having to watch the Mel Gibson version in high school and everyone wanting to slit their wrists from bad acting and boredom. I don’t think there will be a problem with this version. Although I did have to giggle upon first reading it that he said in a past interview that he felt he was doomed to play period pieces the rest of his career. Not that those are bad by any means but variety is a good thing.

He looks good in the pic at the afterparty. Kinda cute that he tucks his hair behind his ears when he says he grew his hair out to hide them. The greasy hair is probably the only “bad” thing about that pic. I guess the beard will be making an appearance in VoDT too? I really don’t see how he looks skinnier than usual or even gaunt. He’s a skinny boy to begin with, but if anything, it’s the angle he’s standing at that might make look him more slender. As much as he talks about that he doesn’t like girls who starve themselves and only eat salads, etc, it seems rather hypocritical and out of character that he would do that himself.
