The movie must be really very dynamic:)

Does Ben’s character again speak with a kind of accent? I’m not an expert in accents but it seems to me that in the trailer Ben pronounces the lines not in the way he usually does giving interviews.

Yeah I think we have another accent here and there will be a big difference between his own and this films

Fedra, I know that the release in Germany is 30th January. Where do you come from?

July 12th, 2013

Dina Makhmetova said:

Oh, Mary, have you noticed the accent too? I was not sure because English is not my first language.

Especially when Tom asks his teacher what is in the flask, Ben’s pronunciation reminds me of Prince Caspian. Perhaps, I’m wrong but I can’t get rid of the feeling that Ben’s voice sounds in a different way:)

CindyDakin said:

In my opinion it’s not an accent. He only speaks like this because that unpalatable drink. Tom Ward doesn’t have an accent. So there’s no reason why Ben should speaks with accent.

Mary said:

Dina,Me neither.I mean my mother tongue is Persian but yeah you’re completely right it reminded me of prince Caspian.
Maybe they’ve used an old or I don’t know Spanish accent in that but it’s cool anyway.with any accent :))

July 12th, 2013

Dina Makhmetova said:

Cindy, I agree that there is no need for an accent, because Tom is an English boy. That is why I was interested and asked this question:)

Mary said:

Common.with any accent he is in that movie which seems awesome and for me that’s amazing

July 12th, 2013

Dina Makhmetova said:

Mary, and my mother tongues are Russian and Kazakh:) So I can hear really well different forms of Russian accent (and French, German and Spanish as well) but when it comes to phonetic variants in speech of the native speakers, I often can’t say with certainty resident of which country is speaking. Two British or two American people from different regions can sound as if they live at two different poles of the planet:)

Mary said:

Dina you’re right sometimes I wanna kill myself but I think there is nothing in the world like british accent.I love that.have you heared Christian bales accent or even Ben himself

July 12th, 2013

Dina Makhmetova said:

Mary, I love Ben’s British accent:) It’s funny but it’s a fact: I understand Ben much better (100 per cent) than any other English speakers:)

July 12th, 2013

Mary said:

Dina I love that too and thank god that is completely understandable.lol :))

I am an American and to me it sounds like Ben is speaking in an American accent in the trailer, which surprises me as the books take place in England ( and the author is English)

July 12th, 2013

Mary said:

Oh really??that is helpful and of course they will talk about it in interviews

July 12th, 2013

Domte119 said:

Yep.The accent sounds American. I was hoping for British since that’d be more like the books but oh well. It doesn’t look like the books to me at all. BUT it still looks like an awesome movie that I’d want to go see even if I hadn’t read the books. AND on top of it looking like a good movie, Ben’s in it! I hate that it was pushed back again. But at least it was pushed back to two days before my birthday. At least I don’t have to wonder what I should plan for my birthday ;)

Thank you, girls, now I know what surprised me when I heard Ben speaking in the trailer:)

As for the monsters in the trailer, it seems to me that they took them from the second or even the third book of the series. I’ve read the first four. Though I don’t remember dragons there:)

And I remember the interviews with the producer and the director in which they said that some of the evil creatures they had added.

Well, the synopsis of the film sounds somewhat like the first book. I read somewhere that they kind of combine the first two books. Not sure if that is true or not.

LaRose said:

Also, heard that Ben will be at San Diego Comic Con next week. I wish I could be there too.

July 14th, 2013

Dina Makhmetova said:

LaRose, that’s fine! It means there will be new photos of Ben:) And new interviews:)

As for the script of the film – let’s wait till January. Or till the start of the promo campaign:)

I have to say that even though we only heard Ben say a few words in the trailer, I was disappointed to hear him speak with an American accent!

Why?? TSS is set in Lancashire, Ben is English and the character he plays – Tom – is English.

He should either be using his own London accent or a Lancashire “ee-oop” kind of dialect!

I was so excited when this trailer came out that I watched it about thirty times in a row! Can’t wait to see it!! Eeeeee.

The release seems sooooooo far away but it’ll be something to look forward to for next year. Reminds me of Castlevania with the dragons and things!
