Would someone do me a favor and, at the “ask Ben a question” site, please ask if his agent offered him for the role of Jamie Fraser in the upcoming film of “Outlander,” based upon the novel of the same name by Diana Gabaldon? Thank you!

OMG C.S. that would be amazing!

I love the interview with Claudia Winkleman! I’ve said it a million times before, Ben has the most beautiful voice.

It’s so nice in this day and age of the desecration of the English language on TV, radio and other media, to hear him talk almost in 1950s BBC English. I do sound old-fashioned, but I find it very important that we don’t let good English slip – and Ben speaks so absolutely charmingly!

Love him to bits <3

Yes, Isabelle, he could be Jamie easily. He has the horse/sword thing already “mastered” and can do a Scots accent. All he need do is color his hair, pop in blue contacts, and put a lift in his boots to make him a smidge taller. He’d also need to bulk up his upper body. If Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth could do so for his role as “Thor,” then Ben could do the same.

I e-mailed Creative Artists Management on October 3rd to suggest that Ben be entered into the fray, but have no idea how the suggestion was received and/or if this was pursued.

I’d not thought of him as “Jamie” until I saw him in “Dorian Gray,” despite the potential translation from the “Prince Caspian” role.

I’m hoping that submission of the question on the site posted above might lead to a revelation as to whether or not his agency offered him for this role while the screenplay is/was being written for the American enterprise in charge.

can i just say that KCRA Sacramento interview was soooo awkward? i got major secondhand embarassment from watching that, between Ben doing shifty eyes the whole time (maybe he was really tired?) and the lady having absolutely no idea what the hell she was talking about!! (like Helaine referenced in her comment, LOL) i still haven’t finished watching it b/c i have to get over the awkwardness i’m experiencing right now hahaha =/

C.S-Will they make a movie of “Outlander”? And it is rumored that Ben might be Jamie? Wow! that would be great, also “Outlander” is my mother’s favorite book from many years :D

December 18th, 2010

C.S. said:

Shunrel…..There is NO rumor that Ben “might be” Jamie in the forthcoming filming of Gabaldon’s “Outlander” series.

Because I am interested in seeing Ben in that role, I e-mailed Ben’s agency on October 3rd, suggesting that he be offered for the role. I’ve been curious ever since if my suggestion was acted upon.

Therefore, I am hoping that someone on this site will e-mail this question to the “ask Ben a question” site cited at the top of this post. I would have asked, myself, but to use my Facebook ID would release all of my “friends and their info” to that site. Other options are provided, but I don’t use those. So, someone, please ask the question as to whether Ben’s rep Creative Artists Mgt. has offered him for the film!

“Variety” announced on October 19, 2010, that screenwriter Ann Peacock, who wrote the 1st of the recent 3 Narnia pics, was selected to adapt “Outlander” for Essential Entertainment (Los Angeles), which renewed film rights to Gabaldon’s series in 2010. So…..looks as if the franchise FINALLY may hit the big screen!

Currently there are seven novels in the “Outlander” series with the recent addition of a graphic novel on the NYT Bestseller list for the last two months. Gabaldon is writing the 8th book now. Also there are spin-off novels about Lord John and some short stories, too. These all have been translated into 19 languages and are seriously popular worldwide! This series isn’t just “mom” entertainment…..the novels are FAB for everyone!

What a terrific opportunity this would be for BEN and an expansion of his worldwide fan base!

Really? Jamie? I always pictured him completely different… Interesting question, though.
I do love Outlander, at least the first couple of books.

I agree Nicole–that interview was painful. With the delay because they were over the phone and her clearly not having a clue about the movie, it wasn’t very comfortable. He tried his best though :)

Shunrei said:

C.S-OK, already I see, already I know that it is for the whole world, also I like it, but my mother is a fan, I said it just for that ;). I would like to see him in that role (though I, to Jamie, I saw him like Gerard Butler or someone like that xD). But with Ben I don´t care. hehe lol.

@Nicole L. – Second hand embarrassment, that’s exactly what I felt when I watched this interview! We have a similar idiom for that in Portuguese, and I was trying to figure out how the hell I would say it in English. LOL About Ben’s shifty eyes, I had the impression that there was something catching his attention over there.

@Isabelle Barnes – Yeah, I agree with you, Ben did try his best in this interview. :)

@C.S. – I’m going to ask this for you. :)

December 18th, 2010

Nicole L. said:

@Isabelle and @Helaine — yea, i agree that Ben was trying hard, i think he was probably just really tired and something must have caught his eye, like you said Helaine…..but obviously it was all that interviewer’s fault. she should’ve done her research before the interview! Major props to Ben for handling that ignorant lady so well LOL :) i don’t think i would’ve had the patience to deal with that kind of idiocy!! hahaha

December 18th, 2010

C.S. said:

The Sacramento TV station is in the capitol city of California, USA. Ben showed NO evidence of being “tired”…..in fact just the opposite.

It was obvious that he was parked in front of a camera recording him while his glances were to another screen in which the interviewer was being telecast for his response…..note the wire snaking down the back of his neck to hear her.

The interviewer’s queries were no worse than all the other, incessantly repetitive questions to which he must regularly respond…..compliments to him for always sounding fresh and interested. It all just goes with the territory.

Retract the claws, please.

Thank you, Helaine.

New interview in an Italian magazine (for benbarnessource):

Well, I have not translated it, but, from what I’ve understood and seen, Ben says he has not yet found the “girl of his life” and finally says something, like he was going to participate in the Oliver Stone film “Wall Street 2” (I wonder what role had made Ben, would he have done the role of Shia LaBeouf?)

(I put the same thing in the forum, just in case xD)

December 20th, 2010

FL said:

*shock*
are you saying that he was considered before Shia landed the role, or that he will star in the sequel??

December 20th, 2010

Shunrei said:

FL:
I don’t know, he said he was going to participate but doesn’t say what role he had to playing, perhaps, was the Shia (I think, me xD).

December 20th, 2010

FL said:

hmm….that is strange because the movie has been released, and there’ has been no word about Ben in it. I wonder if he means Wall Street 3?

December 20th, 2010

Shunrei said:

I have no idea, however I have read a bit, it´s possible that I’ve been wrong, but I think seeing what he says it’s possible to he´s done audition for a role before it made the movie, (I suppose it was the role of Shia) Nor have I seen the movie so I don’t know :S

December 20th, 2010

FL said:

yup, i guess he either auditioned for the role and didn’t get it (a shame) or the interviewer got the wrong info from somewhere and included it in the interview o.0. Anyway, thanks for the info Shunrei :))

December 20th, 2010

Shunrei said:

He says “Wall Street 2” not “3”…

December 20th, 2010

ya i saw the scan. so he must’ve auditioned and failed…maybe this is an old interview and they only publish it now. bummer :(

Oops! I’m Sorry, I put it about “Wall Street 2 Not 3 ” and then I see you’ve already sent a message.

You´re welcome ;)

I’m Italian, and Ben, about Wall Street 2, in the interview says that I would have been happy to be involved in Wall Street 2.
He went for an audiction, but they didn’t choose him.
And now, he keep his fingers crossed for a future film by Oliver Stone, because he would like so much to work with him.
Regarding the question about the girlfriend, he answered that he doesn’t speal about personal life, but that he hasn’t since now met the woman of his life.
The other stuff is the same that we have already read in other inverviews, bye!! .-))
