‘Dorian Gray’ & ‘Bigga than Ben’ US Release

Shock Till You Drop has posted a larger version of the first picture of ‘Dorian Gray’. The film, which is currently being filmed in London, stars Ben alongside Colin Firth, Ben Chaplin, Rebecca Hall, Fiona Shaw and Rachel Hurd-Wood.

There’s been much discussion regarding Ben’s looks for ‘Dorian Gray’ as Dorian is described as a fair haired and blue eyed young lad which is not how Ben looks in the promotional pic (I personally do not mind). However, I tried giving Ben a Dorian Gray look just to see if he could pull it off, and he indeed can. Take a look:

Also, IMDB confirms a US release for “Bigga than Ben” scheduled for November 18th, 2008.

I don’t mind him playing “dark blonds”… hair-colour isn’t the character… ;)

I think the dark hair and eyes make him look more mysterious. Doesn’t that suit the character of Dorian Dray more? And in the original novel ‘Prince Caspian’, Caspian was supposed to have blonde hair and be 8 years old.
I think the movies derived from novels are usually v.different to the books.

Oh well, Ben is going to do a wonderful job. I could bet on it =D

Perfect condition for an actor, though… ;)

And yeah, I think Prince Caspian was supposed to be 13 years old and blond, too….
That’s why I thought it to be a “funny incident”… like Ben prefering to portray blond literature-characters…

But I think we all agree that it won’t be his looks, to rely upon, but the way he is going to establish the character…
I’ve seen an interview, where he described there interpretation of Wild’s story as a dark one with something like a gothic touch to it…
That’s one reason why I really want to see that movie now, as I remember, once I’ve read the story I got that feeling about the atmosphere in the book being of something of that kind…

I think it does not matter if Dorian is blond or not, Ben has the deep and essential beauty the book talks about.
