Ben has recorded an audio version of Curtis Jobling’s ‘A New Hero’, the first book in the ‘World of Warriors’ series. The digital audiobook will be released simultaneously with the book on August 6, 2015 by Penguin Audio. The official synopsis can be found below.
Richard ‘Trick’ Hope is used to getting into trouble, but not like this …
On the run from bullies, Trick finds himself transported to the mystical Wildlands, a place where the greatest warriors throughout history have been summoned to fight in a battle for survival – from Romans and Vikings to Knights and Samurai!
A cryptic old man tells Trick that he’s there for a reason – to deliver the Wildlands from the evil Boneshaker, who rules with an army of terrifying minions. Trick has been chosen to form a band of the seven greatest warriors to defeat this terrible enemy. As Trick begins his epic quest the stakes couldn’t be higher: defeat Boneshaker or never see home again.

LaRose said:The synopsis sounds pretty cool. Although I am an adult, I still enjoy reading books geared for younger people. I love fantasy and things like that. I think I’m going to like this.

F2write said:This book series is geared toward 10-year-olds. There is also an accompanying app for mobile devices.
I noticed on the publisher’s youtube page that there are uploads of select celebs reading their designated audiobooks…so, hoping that we might get to SEE Ben reading excerpts! :)
His voice is so perfect for this. I’m hoping it will be available for U.S. download.
On a side note, the author was involved with one of my fave animated feature series, “Wallace & Gromit.”

Stephanie said:I don’t think it was even released in the UK. It’s not on Amazon/Audible UK or iTunes UK yet. Also, both worldofwarriors.com and penguin.co.uk have deleted the page for the audiobook on their websites.

Stephanie said:I saw that, kiki. The Penguin page is back online with a ‘Buy It Now’ button but none of those sites actually has the audiobook. Maybe that means it’ll be available soon. Monday, perhaps?

F2write said:OK…so the Waterstones link works (a link from Penguin UK), the audiobook is displayed (it’s an MP3), but is not available for purchase outside the UK. I received this message:
“We regret that due to the technical limitations of our site, we are unable to offer eBooks or Audio Downloads to customers outside of the UK.”
eBooks and MP3 Audio Downloads
“We are currently only selling eBooks and MP3 Audio Downloads to customers who are in the UK and have a UK billing address, at the time of purchase. If you are in the UK and are being prevented from purchasing these items from our website, please contact our Customer Support Team for assistance.”
I’m not a techie, but I’m sure other UK sites can also detect the browser’s origin and that’s why some of us can’t see the option at all. I definitely think it’s worth contacting the publisher and author to inquire how we (outside the UK) can purchase this.
Also, an an FYI, the Amazon US site doesn’t have the physical book (international edition) available online until September 1.
Highly disappointed. :(
