Frank Castle, meet thy enemy?

Netflix’s latest Marvel spinoff, ‘The Punisher’, has cast English actor Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia) in a series-regular role opposite Jon Bernthal’s titular vigilante, TVLine has learned exclusively. Character info is sketchy, but one rumor making the rounds has Barnes — who will next be seen in HBO’s big-budget ‘Westworld’ — portraying antagonist Bobby Saint, the corrupt crime prodigy played in the 2004 film by James Carpinello.

Barnes’ stateside TV credits also include playing Sam Adams in the 2015 History miniseries ‘Sons of Liberty’.

Viewers got their first look at Bernthal’s gun-toting antihero in Season 2 of ‘Daredevil’, which dropped last March. Netflix formally pulled the trigger on a Punisher-centric series one month later. ‘Hannibal’ scribe Steve Lightfoot will serve as showrunner.

This is such a fantastic news! :D So thrilled for Ben for getting a new movie role!
I’ve never heard of the Punisher but there’s still time to catch up. ;)
I remember Ben said in an interview he wanted to be part of the Marvel franchise, so happy his wish has been fulfilled.
All the best to him in this new project and looking forward to following him in his new adventures!

1. Will watch anything w/Ben
2. If a person from ‘Hannibal’ is involved, I have hopes for great quality. Hannibal was the best!!

I’ve suspected for a long time that Ben might be the character in Westworld “who dies to prove the situation is serious”. I am so excited to hear the role in “The Punisher” will be a regular role. The previous Netflix Marvel series have done very well and I’m excited to see this one.

I also love the Marvel cinematic universe (Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and many more…) so I’m really thrilled reading this statement.
Honestly, I haven’t seen the 2004 film Punisher yet. My fault. I wish I knew how that villain Bobby Saint behaves lol…It would be such an emotional experience to see Ben in a negative role…a bit weird, but fine :P

Bobby Saint was a minor role in the movie and was created for the movie. Honestly, I’ll be surprised if that’s the character Ben actually plays. The Netflix Marvel shows, unlike the movies, have been really close to specific comic story arcs.

Actually the killing of Bobby Saint was the trigger for the whole story.
So I’m wondering if he will play that chatacter afterall or if so , they’ll seriously will have to change the story then.
