Here’s a new interview of Ben for the portuguese magazine “Capricho” in which, among other things, he talks about how he crashed his car while driving in LA when he got the part on Stardust and how he wasn’t a popular kid at school. Thanks to the amazing Natalie for translating it for BBF!
Ben Barnes, Prince Caspian from the “Chronicles of Narnia”, talks about fame and love
What did you do when you found out you got the part?
My agent from Los Angeles called me, in the middle of the night. I jumped off the bed and ran all over the house, screaming. Fortunately I didn’t break anything on my way. I tell you this because when I found out I got the part on Stardust, I had so much adrenaline I crashed the car! I was driving in LA on Wilshire Boulevard. I parked when I got the call, but, when I got back, I accelerated too much and ended up hitting the car in front of me (laughs).
Are you ready for fame – that you will certainly get after the movie?
I was told this might happen. But I’m not worried since the actors from the first Narnia movie are dealing so well with this. My only hope is that people will focus on my work. That’s all that matters.
Have you ever met any fangirls on the street?
(Laughs) Not yet. For now I only got a few naughty letters. But I know better. I know they are attracted by the image they have of me. Also, as Narnia is a spiritual story, a few fanatics also wrote to me. They told me I must have been chosen by God for the part, that made me a little uncomfortable.
Do you think your girlfriend will be jealous of your fans?
I don’t have anyone special in my life right now, but I will someday…
What kind of girls do you like?
A girl with sense of humour. She’ll certainly need that to understand my own.
How do you feel being compared to Orlando Bloom?
He is a successful guy so I don’t mind. But we’re so different. I don’t believe people will confuse us after spending half a minute with me. The only thing we have in common are our nationality and the brown hair. Orlando is way cooler than I am (laughs). But I understand why people need to compare me to someone famous to introduce me to the public. It’s all part of the game.
What were you like when you were a teenager?
I was never the popular guy, the one who gets all the girls, the captain of the team. I was that boy dedicated to music and acting that no one noticed. I don’t remember being upset about it. I never got desperate seeking attention.
So in a way you can related to Prince Caspian?
Yes. He is not the traditional action hero. Sometimes he is though. Other times he is vunerable. Deep down, he is just this guy trying to find his place in the world. He questions himself all the time about his vocation to be a leader. I also ask myself if I deserve all this attention I’m getting.
Have you ever felt intimidated to be a part of a big production like this?
Fortunately I had a preview during Stardust. It was great to be a part of something so huge, especially because no one was paying much attention to me. I was so amazed walking through those gigantic sets. The truth is, nothing could really prepare me for Prince Caspian. The natural locations in New Zealand were breath taking and the sets were so much bigger than I could ever imagine.
How did you go with the horse riding scenes? Did you have any previous experience?
Only if you take childhood pony rides into consideration. Learning to ride was difficult, even with all the excellent spanish professors I had. I only started to feel comfortable after intense practice, about 6 hours a day for two weeks. So I can guarantee you that when I got down the horse I was walking funny. (laughs) Source

Ben Barnes is the most amazing actor I have ever seen perform. His humor and serious personality brings out the real story in Prince Caspian. I can not imagin any other person playing the part as Prince Caspian in the Chronicles of Narnia.
